A Day in the Life: Tracking Billable Hours with Nureti

Published {$created} by Carsten Blum

As a freelance developer, my days are a juggling act. Client A needs a new API endpoint, Client B needs a UI overhaul, and somewhere in between, I need to remember to eat and, you know, live. Before Nureti, tracking my time felt like another chore – a messy spreadsheet, often inaccurate, easily forgotten. Now, it’s integrated into my workflow.

My day usually starts with checking my Nureti dashboard. The Statistics widget dashboard gives me a quick overview of how I'm tracking against my weekly goals. I love the color-coded progress bars; it's surprisingly motivating. I then review my calendar view, using the blog/simpel-tidsregistrering-kalender approach, to see what tasks are scheduled.

This morning, I had a meeting with Client A. Instead of scrambling for a post-meeting estimate, I simply started a registration using the stopwatch. It’s really fast and easy, a blog/simpel-tidsregistrering-stopwatch approach that cuts down on those annoying mental math gymnastics. I then categorized it under “API Development” and tagged it as “Billable.” It takes seconds, and I can accurately represent my time.

Next, I tackled a bug fix for Client B. Sometimes, it’s hard to remember exactly how long something takes. That’s where Nureti’s flexibility shines. If I’m in the zone and forget to start a registration, I can easily add it later with the quick registration option.

The ability to create invoices directly from registrations is a huge time-saver. With a few clicks, I can pull together all the billable hours, add my rates, and send the invoice. blog/quick-invoicing-tracked-time is a game changer!

Later in the day, I was reviewing compliance for Client C, who operates in the EU. Staying on top of the EU working time directive is essential, and Nureti’s features help automate a lot of the heavy lifting. It’s reassuring to know I’m staying compliant. I was able to quickly review and approve timesheets for my team, leveraging the Administrator role.

Finally, I checked the reporting features – the Export reports in CSV option is crucial for sharing data with clients and for my own financial planning.

Flexibility and Compliance

One of the best things about Nureti is how it adapts to my different work styles. Some days, I’m meticulously tracking every minute. Other days, when I'd prefer to just get the work done, I can use the quick registration to get an estimate without stopping the flow.

It's important to note that EU regulations like the EU working time directive require very specific record-keeping. Nureti provides tools to address these requirements, making compliance simpler than it ever was before. Check out blog/eu-tidsregistrering for more info.

Managing Multiple Clients and Projects

As a freelancer, I often juggle several clients and projects simultaneously. Nureti’s ability to handle unlimited projects and tasks nureti.com/features/ is invaluable. Assigning hours to specific projects and tasks gives me a clear picture of where my time is going and helps me optimize my workflow. The Groups with roles management aspect helps me delegate approvals to the appropriate managers, freeing up my time.
